South Woodham Chairman Graham Pretty is currently going through the late stages of training in preparation for this year's forthcoming Flora London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 13th April 2008. As part of a seven man team sponsored by building refurbishment company Lengard, Graham will be raising money for two charities, CANCER TREATMENT AND RESEARCH TRUST & MACS (MICRO ANOPHTHALMIC CHILDREN'S SOCIETY).

" Every year, a group of guys from work look to take on a challenge that is genuinely demanding yet provides opportunity to raise some money for some good causes. The team is made up from mainly Site Managers & Quantity Surveyors, a couple of the lads are looking at 3.5 hours times but the rest of us will be just pleased to finish! The training is tough, the hardest part is mustering the motivation to churn out a mid week 6miler in pitch darkness whilst it's tipping it down, I'm aiming to run 400 miles in preparation. All marathon runners have there own story or focus, but for me, running along the embankment, past Big Ben and then into the Mall packed with spectators will be a magnificent prospect."
