Dunmow puts Wheels in Motion to Ride into the Record Books on a bicycle made for 100

Great Dunmow Round Table have set themselves the craziest of challenges.  They intend to break the Guinness World Record attempt for the most people on a pedal powdered vehicle!

The Record to Break

In 2005, 82 riders in Sweden set a World Record for the most people on a pedal powered vehicle.  The Great Dunmow Round Table are going to smash this record apart on a purpose made 32m long, 4.5 tonne, 100 seat Bike.

Great Dunmow Round Table Chairman Shaun Pledger confirmed the bike will carry a massive 100 riders 1km down the runway at The Imperial War Museum Duxford.

The event will take place at 2.00 p.m. on Saturday 22nd September 2007.

The gross weight of the bike laden exceeds a whopping 12 tonnes.

Due to the complexities of the bike it has taken a staggering 5 months for the Guinness World Record team to work with Round Table and categorise the vehicle.

We also intend to cycle the bike 103 miles from Norwich to Great Dunmow on the weekend of 6th/7th October 2007.

Due to size restriction on public roads this beast of a machine will hold 40 riders, and pass through the table towns of Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Haverhill and Saffron Walden.

Dunmow Round Table are looking for have a go tablers from these respective towns to help us pedal all or part of the challenge.
