Dragon Boat - Chelmsford
Tindal & Chelmsford 132
The sporting prowess of Round
Table knows no bounds....on land on sea and, err, canal!
Yes, the
combined power of 132 and 826 scuppered the hopes of the other
Dragon Boat teams to lift the 2007
trophy in an incredibly tightly fought competition yesterday at
Paper Mill Lock.
'Arthur and his Round Tablers' won all three of their qualifying rounds by a
comfortable margin of no more
than 0.3 of a second!
The post
lunch times were expected to be down a bit due to an influx
of carrot cake and coffee. Yes its
a 'no beer' competition! But in the end the team over came
these obstacles, borrowed two members of a
lesser successful team, and dug deep for the line.
The semi final was clinched by a dramatic 0.35 of a second win.
And the
final by 0.08 of a second, recording our best time of the day of
1 minute 4.09 seconds of shoulder, knee,
back and arm wrenching pain!
Greg, as
captain, accepted a fine shield on behalf of us all. And, in a
truly Bafta-ish moment, thanked us all with
a tear in his eye.
Needless to
say it was a great day for Table and in the name of such a
worthy cause too.
Special
thanks must go to the Tindal guys for stepping in at such short
notice and for making up the engine room section of the
boat.
And special
- special thanks must go to Roger's Sarah for beating the drum
and driving the crew to ever greater times.
Overall, a
great day and an even greater result! |
