THOUSANDS of spectators flocked to
see Billericay's magical firework display.
The display at Lake Meadows,
Billericay, was organised by the Billericay Round Table and
raised more than £35,000 for local charities.
Richard Leahy, Round Table
fireworks co-ordinator, said: "It was very good. There must have
been 25,000 people packed into the park and the fireworks had
everyone's jaws dropping. The final fireworks were like giant
golden shells, which seemed to hang on in the air for ages. The
fireworks cost around £17,000, but it was worth every penny to
see the wonder on the children's faces. I would like to thank
everyone from Billericay and the surrounding area, who came
along and helped us raise all of this money. We're really proud
of what we've achieved as a community."
The Guy for the bonfire was
made by Scouts from across Billericay.
"My little girl loves the
fireworks and it still makes me feel like a little girl when I
see a nice display."
Paul Plant, 25, of Park Side, Billericay, said: "It was a bit
nippy so it was nice to gather round the bonfire
Lucy Ellery, 12, of Clifford
Close, Basildon, said: "They were the best fireworks ever. They
were really loud and they lit up the sky."
Her mum Mary, 28, said: "They
made a big effort this year and it nice to see so many people
enjoying the display. |
